The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ha Lam Coal Joint Stock Company operates under the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Quang Ninh Coal. In the early period following the establishment of the mine (August 1960), the Youth Union had only 130 members. To date, the Company’s Youth Union has a total of 1,130 members participating in 29 affiliated youth branches.
The activities of the Company’s Youth Union have consistently focused on strengthening communication and education on Marxist–Leninist theory, Ho Chi Minh Thought, and the revolutionary traditions of the Party, the Youth Union, the coal industry, and the Company. Regular emphasis is placed on moral and lifestyle education to enhance young members’ sense of responsibility in fulfilling their assigned duties.
The Youth Union has continuously renewed the content and methods of branch activities and improved their quality, while effectively implementing the youth member training and development program. Attention is also given to organizing training and capacity building to enhance the qualifications, competencies, and ethical standards of Youth Union officials and members, meeting the requirements of Youth Union work and the youth movement in the new period. Through these efforts, the pioneering spirit, dynamism, and creativity of young people are clearly demonstrated in the process of building and developing the Company.
The implementation of youth movement activities has been carried out with clear focus and key priorities. Movements such as “Youth Volunteers Taking the Lead in Undertaking Projects and Difficult Tasks,” the registration of youth-managed and co-managed models, and the Young Science and Technology Clubs have been strongly promoted. Hundreds of projects undertaken by youth members have been implemented effectively, contributing significantly to the successful fulfillment of the Company’s production and business plans.
The movements promoting creative labor, continuous learning to improve professional qualifications, theoretical review and skills training for excellent worker competitions, and the enhanced application of mechanization, automation, informatization, and digital transformation have been widely implemented among Youth Union members. Each year, dozens of youth officials and members are certified as outstanding skilled workers at Company-level and Group-level competitions; notable research projects and exemplary initiatives by youth officials and members have been recognized by the Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union and the Central Youth Union. The Company’s Youth Union has been commended by the Central Youth Union for two youth officials and members who achieved national-level outstanding skilled worker titles.
Action programs promoting thrift practice, solidarity and twinning activities, the maintenance of security and order, environmental protection, and participation in the prevention of social evils among youth members have been given special attention and have achieved positive results. Cultural, artistic, physical training, and sports activities are regularly organized to attract and unite young people, strengthening their attachment to the Youth Union organization and the Company. The Youth Union closely coordinates with professional departments and the Trade Union to identify and nurture outstanding individuals, enabling them to achieve high results in cultural and sports movements at both the Company level and across the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group.
The care and support for children and adolescents have always been a key focus of the Company’s Youth Union. Strong and effective relationships among schools, local wards, and the enterprise have been maintained, with enhanced coordination in Youth Union, Youth Association, and Young Pioneer activities in collaboration with local units.
Under the leadership and direction of the Company’s Party Committee and the Quang Ninh Coal Youth Union, the Company’s Youth Union continues to strengthen unity, promote the pioneering, voluntary, and creative spirit of youth members across all areas of work, contributing to the successful fulfillment of political tasks. The Youth Union organization truly serves as a center for gathering, educating, and training the younger generation. As a reliable reserve force of the Party, each year it nurtures and introduces dozens of outstanding youth officials and members for the Party to consider for admission.
Throughout its formation and development, the Company’s Youth Union has consistently been recognized and evaluated by the Quang Ninh Coal Youth Union as an “Outstanding Grassroots Youth Union” and has been awarded many prestigious honors by higher-level Youth Union organizations.:
The Quang Ninh Coal Youth Union awarded the Leading Flag for Youth Union work and the youth movement in 2012, 2014, and 2020.
The Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union awarded Certificates of Merit for outstanding achievements in Youth Union work and the children and youth movement in 2011, 2013, and 2020.
- The Central Youth Union awarded Certificates of Merit to the unit for outstanding achievements in Youth Union work and the youth movement during the terms 2009–2011 and 2017–2019.
- Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister of the Government: “For outstanding achievements in Youth Union work, contributing to the cause of building socialism and safeguarding the Fatherland.”
- Many individuals have been awarded the commemorative medal “For the Young Generation” by the Central Youth Union.
National Technical Innovation Awards (VIFOTEC):
- Third Prize at the National Technical Innovation Awards (VIFOTEC) in 2015.
First Prize at the National Technical Innovation Awards (VIFOTEC) in 2017.
